Please find below our latest branch updates:

  • Strike Pay (UoL only) if you have not yet applied for your strike pay for either 28 February-2 March or 24/25 March, you can still send through an application form and the relevant pay slips, showing your strike pay deductions and a pay slip showing your usual salary to We are working through payments as fast as we can. You can find all the documents you need to apply on our website here
  • Online Pay Consultation 22/23 this year’s pay offer from the employer is 3%, with the lowest grades getting a 9% uplift. This was decided at the last JNCHES meeting held yesterday, 5 May. UNISON are now opening an online consultation to HE members, asking them to decide if they wish to accept this offer (the offer would be implemented August 2022). The consultation will run from 11-27 May and once we have the results, the HESGE will decide if a postal ballot for sustained strike action will be held. In order to vote, you will receive an email direct from UNISON with a link: just click the link to vote. If you do not receive an email, we can direct you to the website where you can enter a few personal details to vote. We will send further details out next week.

We encourage all eligible members to vote: this is once again, a poor, below-inflation pay offer from a sector which has billions of pounds. Also, to be clear, the 9% for the lowest grades is a real term increase of 3.2% above the national minimum wage requirement. So, the lowest grades are not getting a huge pay rise, it’s not generosity on the side of the employers, it is their legal requirement to uplift to the minimum wage.

We all deserve better.
