Here are the latest branch updates:

  • IT Update – at a recent meeting with HR and IT management, it was confirmed that the University recognised that the IT service (as a whole) needs increased investment in its staffing to address issues such as workload and career progression; they recognise that recruiting into IT has become markedly different from other areas of the University, not least because of the competitive nature of ‘the market’ external to HE. The University assures us that it will review its recruitment, reward and retention practices, with the intention of making the University more attractive to new recruits and with a view to retaining existing staff.
  • Christmas Raffle – a huge thank you to everyone who donated to our Christmas raffle this year! The prize draw was held last week and all winners have been notified. We are arranging delivery of the donations to Leeds Trussell Trust South & East and Richmond Hill Elderly Action this week.
  • Clinically Extremely Vulnerable (CEV) staff – we are aware that this terminology has disappeared from government guidance around Covid but if you or a member of your family would be classed as CEV and you are being asked to return to work on campus, please do contact us for support and/or contact your local HR Officer to discuss.
  • UoL Strike Ballot – thank you to everyone who has got in touch to let us know you’ve voted. If you have posted your vote and haven’t yet told us, you can do so by emailing us at If you have the papers at home, please do use the Christmas closure period to post your vote. If you haven’t yet received your ballot papers, the ballot hotline opens on 5 January 2022 and we will send out the number you can call to ask for new papers to be sent to you in the new year.

You are worth more than a 1.5% pay rise – use your vote!
