Here are our latest updates:
- 2020 Pay Offer Ballot – as mentioned in a previous weekly update, our Branch is gearing up to hold a ballot on action against the 0% pay freeze which was given to HE staff in 2020. Our branch consultative ballot showed that there was a huge appetite to act to show how unacceptable this “offer” was. It is looking likely that the ballot will take place over June and will be a postal ballot, so please do ensure your home address is up-to-date on UNISON’s systems. This leads us on to the next point…
- 2021 Pay Offer – As you may have seen from the University intranet, the employers have made an offer of a 1.5% pay increase for the majority of staff for 2021 (this would be implemented from 1 August 2021). UNISON and the other unions have rejected this offer outright. All members in HE will be consulted on this offer from w/c 24 May via email, so please look out for further updates from us and UNISON. We will try and be as clear as possible as to which pay offer we are referring to in our communications with you, as it is likely the pay ballots for both 2020 and 2021 will overlap.
- NEC Elections – a reminder that the deadline to vote in the NEC elections is Thursday, 27 May 2021. You should have received your ballot pack in the post, but if you have not received anything, you can call UNISON on 0800 0 857 857 to have the pack re-sent to you. Today (20th May) is the deadline to register for your pack to be re-sent. The Branch has sent out a list of names and candidate statements for those candidates we nominated a few weeks ago
- Recruitment – we’re over halfway through our recruitment month! If you recruit a new member during May, you will receive £25 and the new member will receive 3-months’ free subscriptions. To log if you have recruited someone, please send your name and the name of the new member to email@example.com
As always, if you would like advice and support about a workplace issue, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or contact your local rep or Branch Officer.
