  • Global day for climate justice: trade union and workers bloc | Leeds City Square | Saturday 6 November | 11.30am.  As part of the global day for climate justice, trade unionists and workers are invited to meet at Leeds City Square at 11.30am on Saturday 6 November and march together up to the general assembly point at Millennium Square at 12 noon, with all their different TU banners and flags.  They will then all march at 1pm before reassembling for speeches, stalls and music. This is being organised by members of Leeds Trades Union Council environment sub-committee. This will be a fantastic and important opportunity to bring trade unionists together to demand a just transition and a safe and decent future for ourselves and our communities. And to raise awareness amongst the wider climate movement of the importance and centrality of workers’ organisation in bringing about a decarbonised economy and fair society which is our shared goal. There will also be events in York and Sheffield. If you would like to get involved in organising the Leeds event, can help with publicity or on the day, or want to bring a stall on the day, please contact the Yorkshire and Humber COP26 Coalition .
  • As always, if you would like advice and support about a workplace issue, please contact us at unison@leeds.ac.uk or contact your local rep or Branch Officer.
