Major victory for care workers in Haringey – care workers in Haringey won an important victory for care staff, which could change the way care staff across the country are paid. You can find further details of the UNISON campaign here.

Branch Nomination for General Secretary – the Branch Committee met yesterday to vote on our Branch nomination for the General Secretary position. Our nomination is Paul Holmes and we will be submitting the nomination form imminently.

Online Members Meeting – we will be holding an online members meeting on Tuesday 6 October, 12:30-1:30pm through Collaborate Ultra. A separate invite will be sent to all members. We will start the meeting with an Health & Safety update from our Branch H&S Officer, Nick Creighton, and then we will open up the meeting to questions from members. Please come along if you have something you would like to ask us. We’ll be looking to hold regular meetings each month, so keep an eye out for the invites.

Return to Campus (all members) – wherever you work, if you have any concerns about returning to campus, please let us know.

Leeds Trinity – as members at Trinity will be aware, Dave Haslam is stepping down as Leeds Trinity rep from 20 September. We’d like to thank Dave again for all his hard work as a rep over many years at Trinity, he will be missed by the members there and by the Branch Committee. If anyone at Trinity is interested in becoming a rep or a workplace contact, or getting involved in H&S work, please get in touch. Full training and mentoring, with paid time off, are available.

School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) Strike – SOAS UNISON members have voted to strike on 22 and 23 September against proposed redundancies of 88 Professional Services staff. Our Branch will be sending a message of support to the strikers and donating to their strike fund and we are sharing details of the strike on our social media channels.
