Heartunions week 8-14 February. A chance to tell the story about why unions are vital for everyone at work, and encourage them to join a union.

No-one could have foreseen the twin challenges of the global pandemic and consequent recession. We are proud of the way the trade union movement responded, stepping up to fight the pandemic, demanding action to protect jobs and supporting our members through thick and thin.

What’s HeartUnions about?

During the week we want to do two simple things:

1. Demonstrate how brilliant unions are by showcasing all that we achieve for working people – especially during the pandemic.

2. Encourage as many people as possible who are already union members to ask someone they know to join one too.

So, during the run up to HeartUnions week – and during the week itself – the TUC will be sharing stories that show unions’ impact and providing reps and members with resources to help them get more people to join a union.

Share Your Stories

2020 was a tough year, but we know that reps and members have stepped up and supported their colleagues and workplace in amazing ways. The TUC would like to celebrate and share those positive stories to inspire people to join a union and show the power we have when we work together. If you, or any of your colleagues, have a story to share, the TUC would love to hear from you. Tell us your story

Also, please feel free to let your branch know if you have story to share – if you prefer we can make your account anonymous – so that we can let staff at the University of Leeds know how worthwhile it is being part of a union. Please email your feedback to: unison@leeds.ac.uk
